About

I test sleep products the way I wish someone had tested them for me.

I didn't set out to become "the sleep person". I spent most of my twenties working late in editorial, drinking too much coffee, and treating 5 hours of sleep like a personality trait. It caught up with me the year I turned 31 - waking up at 3 a.m., wired but exhausted, googling "why can't I stay asleep" at 3:47.

The advice I found was either overwhelming ("optimize your circadian rhythm") or straight sales copy ("this gummy will change your life"). So I started running my own tests: one variable at a time, four weeks per trial, Oura Ring on every night. That habit turned into a client practice, and eventually into this site.

How I test

  • Minimum four weeks per product, one variable at a time.
  • Oura Ring every night; I log HRV, deep sleep, wake events and morning readiness.
  • Same evening routine window (9:30-11:00 p.m.) unless the product changes it.
  • No alcohol during a test week - it distorts the data too much.

My rules

  • Rankings are never sold. If a brand pays to be reviewed, it's disclosed at the top of the article.
  • Affiliate links only for products I'd already recommend to a client.
  • If I stop using something after the test, I say so.

Credentials

NASM Certified Wellness Coach (2021), IIN Health Coach (2019), ongoing coursework with the Sleep Foundation's professional program. I am not a doctor - nothing on this site is medical advice, and everything I test I run past my own primary care physician first.
